The 26th International Symposium on Stone Sculpture of Friuli Venezia Giulia hosted new artists again this year at the Vergnacco Sculpture Park and allowed the many visitors to admire the works created in the 2023 exhibition, to which one more work was added: the "red" bench, on red marble from Verzegnis, with a message of hope for the future.
The AmaTe sculpture was created by artists Silvia Maffioli (Lombardy) and Julie Glaspy (Canada) and was conceived and desired by the Circolo culturale l Faro as a gift to the municipal administration to highlight the deeply felt issue of gender-based violence, which led the UN General Assembly to establish November 25 as the "International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women."
The work was unveiled in the presence of artist Silvia Maffioli on November 25, 2023 precisely, and several classes from Reana del Rojale Secondary School were present.
